It all started with chocolate chip banana bread, back when the bakers thought they could have the old-fashioned gluten kind. Head baker Jenne would even grind her own wheat and give the loaves to family, friends, and teachers. They were always a big hit. Many asked for more. And the love of her banana bread spread.
Mom and daughter team, Jenne and Regan, have been gluten-free since 2014, when Regan was diagnosed with celiac. The years of using freshly ground whole wheat flour were over in an instant. Jenne set out to change her recipes to make delicious gluten-free goodies their whole family could enjoy. Not an easy task with a gluten-loving husband and teenage sons. It was rough.
Gluten-free wasn't well understood or available then. Jenne cried on each grocery shopping trip for the first several months. And then it got easier. Dining out was always a challenge to keep Regan safe from cross-contamination. The family could only enjoy a few good restaurants together.
Not long after, Jenne started her own celiac journey. She only started gluten-free to help Regan's transition—until she noticed that years of medical issues disappeared after removing gluten from her diet. It all started to make sense.
The gluten-free flour adventure took years. Making her famous banana bread taste the same was not easy. Eventually Jenne started giving out banana bread again, this time gluten-free. Everyone loved it. Gluten-loving family and friends continued to ask for more. And gluten-free friends jumped on board. They had asked her for years if she would sell it, but the answer was always no. Until October 2021.
Our first show in November 2021 was an overwhelming success. Gluten-free friends were excited about our new bakery, while gluten-loving friends were shocked at how amazing the goodies were. A huge thanks to all who came to support us at Believe Marketplace at Cornerstone in Chandler, Arizona.
We started selling sweet breads and goodies that day. Then we ventured out to farmer's markets and events, each time adding different items and flavors. Often we got requests for cakes and began to offer them as custom orders.
After repeated inquiries for cakes available for pick up the same day, we began to stock bundt cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops. Our creativity grew with each request, and now we make custom layer cakes, specialty cakes, and wedding cakes. We have something for every celebration, even if it's a quiet family dinner.
